Announcement: BTA Hires Executive Director
Bruce Walker has been hired as our Executive Director. He will work part time at 29 hours a week and support the Big Thicket Consortium.
Bruce Walker is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.S. Degree in Business & Economics. He retired as General Manager of Time Warner Cable Media Sales for the Golden Triangle Area in 2011. He had been in television advertising since 1989. Bruce is a member of the Beaumont Rotary Club and of Leadership Southeast Texas. Bruce has been active in the Golden Triangle Group Sierra Club. He currently serves on the boards of the Texas Conservation Alliance and the Sabine Neches Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist. He is Co-Founder of Citizens Protecting the Neches River, a coalition of sportsmen, businessmen, conservationists, and other Southeast Texas leaders who would like to see a study of the Neches river as a possible National Wild and Scenic River. Bruce is married to Kathryn Walker. They both love to travel to interesting places around the world, and love to hike anywhere. They are active paddlers in the Southeast Texas Kayak & Canoe Club and also enjoy getting outside anywhere in Texas. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
