Registration Form for Big Thicket Day Afternoon Activities

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2010—BIG THICKET DAY:
We will have a membership meeting in the morning at the Visitors’ Center with presentations on the Big Thicket National Preserve General Management Plan, the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI), and the expansion of the Preserve.  Lunch will be served outside the headquarters building.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES:  In the afternoon we want to give our members and guests an opportunity to experience the Thicket.  For planning purposes we need to know which of the activities you will join.  The options are:

  • HIKE—1:30-4:30:   A moderately strenuous hike to a section of the Lower Neches corridor with oxbow lakes, guided by Preserve employees.
  • CANOEING—1:30-4:30:  A nice fall canoe trip down Village Creek led by Preserve employees.
  • THE CARDINAL—2:00-4:30:  From Colliers Ferry Park in Beaumont take a trip on the Neches and into Ten Mile Creek on the 40 passenger CARDINAL with Captain Debbie Loftus.
  • AUTO TOUR—1:30-4:00:  Those who are less ambulatory can enjoy a reminder of the natural and cultural history of the Lance Rosier unit from the comfort of a chauffeured van.
