Citizens Protecting the Neches River
July 14, 2010
Dear BTA Member:
Citizens Protecting the Neches River invite you to join us as we host specialists on Wild and Scenic Rivers speaking at public meetings later in July. Attila Bality of the National Park Service and Deborah Caffin of the U.S. Forest Service will talk about what it would mean to designate the Neches River as a Wild and Scenic River and will answer questions from the audience.
There will be two meetings:
| Monday, July 26, 2010, 6:00 pm | Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 6:00 pm |
|---|---|
| Dishman Art Museum at Lamar Univ. 1030 E. Lavaca (at MLK Dr) Beaumont, TX 77705 |
Lufkin City Council Chambers 300 East Shepherd, Room 102 Lufkin, TX 75901 |
In Beaumont, our co-hosts are Clean Air and Water, Inc., Coastal Conservation Association, Friends of the Neches River, and Texas Conservation Alliance. We want to extend a special invitation to you to attend this important meeting about the Neches River. We hope you will join us for a reception for our guests and those attending following the meeting. As you know, the Neches River is a critical component of the Big Thicket National Preserve. Thus, it is extremely important that we protect it. At this point we want Congress to enact legislation ordering a study of the appropriateness of Wild and Scenic designation for the Neches. Please try to attend one of these forums and bring your friends and neighbors.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Bruce Drury
